Why I’m Starting Two Bible Plans This Year (and Why I Hope You’ll Join Me)

Every year, I feel this quiet but persistent nudge: get back to the Word—daily, consistently, honestly.

Not out of obligation.
Not to check a box.
But because time and time again, Scripture has proven to be life-giving.

When the world feels loud, chaotic, anxious, and heavy, God’s Word grounds me.
It reminds me who God is.
It reminds me who I am.
And it reshapes how I respond to everything life throws my way.

That’s why this next year, I’m starting two Bible reading plans, and my simple goal is this:

Help people fall in love with God’s Word and build a daily rhythm of reading it.

Not perfectly.
Just faithfully.

Why Daily Bible Reading Matters

God’s Word has a way of doing things nothing else can.

  • It centers us when life feels scattered
  • It strengthens us when circumstances feel overwhelming
  • It forms us slowly, steadily, and deeply

The Bible doesn’t just inform us—it transforms us.

When we consistently feed ourselves with Scripture, we’re better equipped to:

  • Navigate anxiety and uncertainty
  • Lead our families with wisdom
  • Love people with grace
  • Stand firm when culture shifts
  • Live with hope instead of fear

Simply put: what we feed ourselves shapes us.

Plan #1: 365 Kingdom Living

This first plan is all about learning how to live Kingdom-first lives right here on earth.

365 Kingdom Living is designed to be:

  • Simple
  • Approachable
  • Sustainable

It walks through Scripture with daily, bite-sized devotions and passages that won’t overwhelm you but will steadily shape you.

This plan asks important questions like:

  • What does it actually look like to live in the Kingdom of God today?
  • How do we allow Scripture to shape our decisions, relationships, and priorities?
  • How do we move from just reading the Bible to hearing, studying, memorizing, meditating on, and applying it?

Over the course of the year, you’ll begin to see God’s Kingdom revealed throughout Scripture—and more importantly, reflected in your daily life.

This is a great plan if you’re:

  • New to daily Bible reading
  • Rebuilding a habit
  • Wanting a steady, manageable pace

Plan #2: New Testament in a Year | Daily Audio Guide

(The one I did last year—and loved)

This plan was a game-changer for me.

Through Through the Word, you’ll journey through:

  • All 27 books
  • All 260 chapters of the New Testament
  • In just 10 minutes a day

Each day includes a short audio guide from trusted teachers who bring clarity, insight, and context to the passage you’re reading.

It feels like having a guide walking alongside you—helping the Scriptures come alive and connect.

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I want to understand the New Testament better”
  • “I struggle staying consistent”
  • “I learn better by listening”

This plan is for you.

Join the plan here:

Why Two Plans?

Because we all learn differently.

Some people love:

  • Short daily readings
  • Written devotions
  • Slow, reflective pacing

Others thrive with:

  • Audio teaching
  • Clear explanations
  • A focused daily time commitment

My hope is that one (or both) of these plans helps you build a rhythm that lasts beyond January enthusiasm.

An Invitation, Not a Challenge

This isn’t about guilt.
It’s not about streaks.
It’s not about perfection.

It’s about showing up, day after day, and letting God’s Word do what only it can do.

If you miss a day—jump back in.
If you fall behind—keep going.
If you don’t understand something—lean in.

God honors faithfulness.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

This next year, my prayer is simple:
That we would be a people rooted in truth, formed by Scripture, and strengthened to live well in a broken world.

I’d love for you to join me.

Let’s read the Word—together.

Happy 2025

I’m inviting you to join me on an incredible journey through God’s Word using the YouVersion Bible App! Together, we can make 2025 a year of deeper faith and daily connection with Scripture.

You can choose between two amazing Bible Plans:

A Night of Worship: United in Praise and Purpose

On Sunday, July 28, our church community experienced an unforgettable Night of Worship at our North Fort Worth Campus. It was a night filled with humble hearts and God-honoring worship as all five campuses celebrated our shared faith. The atmosphere was electric, and the unity and purpose were apparent.

Humility and Unity

The evening began with a powerful video introduction showcasing each campus, symbolizing our coming together as one family. This moving display of unity set the tone for the night and led seamlessly into the opening song, “Praise” by Elevation Worship. The song perfectly captured the spirit of the night, inviting everyone to lift their voices in gratitude and adoration.

Flexibility and Resilience

Throughout the event, we witnessed incredible flexibility and resilience from everyone involved. Our volunteer leaders took center stage in the middle of the service, leading us through three songs that highlighted our multiplier mindset. Their leadership was a testament to the strength and dedication of our community, showcasing how we can achieve great things when we work together with a common purpose.

Celebrating Our Work Ethic

The night concluded with all our worship pastors returning to the stage, bringing the evening to a powerful close. Their collective effort and work ethic were evident in every note and word sung. I am incredibly proud of everyone who contributed to making this night a success. Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring, and they fill me with excitement for the future of our church community.

Join Us

As we look ahead, we always seek new members to join our teams. Whether you are a musician, a vocalist, or on the media team, we would love to have you join us. Together, we can continue to create meaningful and impactful experiences that honor God and bring our community closer together.

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our Night of Worship. Your presence and passion made it an event to remember. Let’s carry this spirit of humility, flexibility, resilience, and hard work into all we do as we grow and serve.

Procrastinate on Purpose?

“You multiply your time by spending time on things today that will give you more time tomorrow.” In a world where the pressure to constantly be productive can feel overwhelming, Rory Vaden’s book “Procrastinate on Purpose” offers a refreshing perspective on time management and productivity. Through his insightful strategies, Vaden encourages us to embrace purposeful procrastination as a means of prioritizing what truly matters and looking at time as an investment. Drawing from biblical wisdom, here are three key takeaways from Vaden’s approach:

1. Investing Our Talents Wisely

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable of the talents, where a master entrusts his servants with various sums of money before leaving on a journey. Upon his return, he rewards those who invested and multiplied their talents but rebukes the one who buried his out of fear. This parable emphasizes the importance of stewardship and productive use of the resources we’ve been given—similarly, Vaden advocates for leveraging our talents and abilities effectively rather than squandering them through mindless busyness. By strategically allocating our time and energy to tasks that align with our goals and values, we can make a meaningful impact.

2. Sowing Seeds of Intentionality

Galatians 6:7-9 reminds us, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” This passage underscores the principle of sowing and reaping, highlighting the importance of intentional actions and perseverance. Vaden’s concept of purposeful procrastination encourages us to sow seeds of intentionality by deliberately delaying tasks that don’t align with our priorities, thereby ensuring a bountiful harvest of productivity and fulfillment in the long run.

3. Prioritizing What Truly Matters

In Luke 10:38-42, Jesus visits the home of Martha and Mary. While Martha busies herself with serving, Mary sits at Jesus’ feet, soaking in his teachings. When Martha complains to Jesus about Mary’s lack of help, Jesus responds, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” This passage underscores the importance of prioritizing our relationship with God and focusing on what truly matters. Vaden’s approach encourages us to adopt a similar mindset by intentionally delaying tasks that detract from our core values and relationships, allowing us to devote our time and attention to what truly nourishes our souls.

4. Delegating Responsibilities Wisely

Exodus 18 provides a practical example of delegation, where Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, advises him to appoint capable leaders to assist in managing the Israelites. In verses 17-23, Jethro tells Moses, “You will certainly wear out both yourself and these people… So select capable men from all the people… and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.” This passage emphasizes the importance of delegating responsibilities wisely to prevent burnout and ensure efficient functioning. Vaden echoes this principle by urging us to delegate tasks that others can do better or more efficiently, allowing us to focus on our areas of strength and highest contribution.

“Procrastinate on Purpose” offers a transformative perspective on productivity, urging us to embrace intentional delay as a strategic tool for achieving our goals and living a purpose-driven life. By aligning our actions with biblical principles of stewardship, intentionality, prioritization, and delegation, we can cultivate a more fulfilling and impactful existence.

Be the Unicorn by William Vanderbloemen

In “Be the Unicorn,” author William Vanderbloemen takes readers on a transformative journey through the realm of leadership, unveiling the secrets of exceptional leadership through the lens of what he calls the “12 Habits.” Drawing upon his extensive experience as a leadership consultant and entrepreneur, Vanderbloemen offers a refreshing perspective on what it takes to stand out as a leader in today’s competitive landscape.

At the heart of Vanderbloemen’s message is the metaphor of the unicorn—a symbol of rarity, uniqueness, and boundless potential. Through his exploration of the 12 habits, Vanderbloemen demonstrates how these qualities can be cultivated and harnessed by individuals striving to make a meaningful impact in their respective fields.

Each habit outlined in the book is accompanied by practical insights, actionable strategies, and real-world examples, making it accessible and applicable to leaders at all levels. From fostering a culture of continuous learning to embracing vulnerability and authenticity, Vanderbloemen’s framework offers a roadmap for personal and professional growth.

One of the book’s most compelling aspects is its emphasis on self-awareness and emotional intelligence in effective leadership.  Side note: I grew the most as a leader when I became better self-aware.  Not that I nail being self-aware all the time, but we use a tool, Culture Index, that helped me tremendously.  If you want more info about the Culture Index, let me know.  It could change your perspective for the better!  Vanderbloemen argues that exceptional leaders possess a deep understanding of themselves and others, allowing them to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics with grace and empathy.

Moreover, “Be the Unicorn” challenges traditional notions of leadership by highlighting the value of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration. Vanderbloemen contends that truly exceptional leaders are not afraid to surround themselves with individuals who possess complementary skills and perspectives, fostering a culture of innovation and creativity.

Throughout the book, Vanderbloemen emphasizes the significance of intentionality and purpose in leadership, urging readers to align their actions with their values and aspirations. By embracing a mindset of curiosity, resilience, and humility, he argues, leaders can unlock their full potential and inspire those around them to do the same.

In conclusion, “Be the Unicorn” is a captivating and thought-provoking exploration of what it means to be an exceptional leader in today’s fast-paced world. With its practical advice, inspiring anecdotes, and timeless wisdom, this book is sure to leave a lasting impact on anyone striving to make a difference in their organization and beyond. Whether you’re a seasoned executive or an aspiring entrepreneur, “Be the Unicorn” offers invaluable insights and guidance to help you unleash your inner unicorn and lead with purpose, passion, and authenticity.

Reflect on Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” By anchoring our leadership journey in faith and seeking divine guidance, we can navigate challenges with confidence and integrity, ultimately fulfilling our calling to lead with excellence and grace.

Generosity Unveiled: Insights from ‘Giving It All Away and Getting It All Back Again’ by David Green”

In the journey of life, we often come across transformative moments that reshape our perspectives and inspire us to live more generously. One such revelation awaits within the pages of “Giving It All Away and Getting It All Back Again” by David Green, a book that transcends material wealth to delve into the profound joy of generous living.  I came across this book due to our Pastor Doug Walker recommending our staff go through the YouVersion Bible plan.  I thought the plan was good, but the book was even better!

1: The Joy of Generosity

David Green, the founder of Hobby Lobby, shares his profound insights on generosity, illustrating how giving can be a source of immeasurable joy. The book emphasizes the biblical principle found in 2 Corinthians 9:7: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” This verse sets the tone for Green’s message, encouraging readers to embrace a spirit of cheerful and purposeful giving.

Green’s personal anecdotes and experiences serve as a testament to the transformative power of generosity. The joy he found in giving became a catalyst for a life filled with purpose and fulfillment, proving that true abundance comes not just from material wealth but from the richness of a generous heart.  He highlighted this through his parents.  They didn’t have much money but would literally give the clothes off their back to help people.

2: The Divine Economy of Generosity

Delving deeper into the essence of generosity, David Green’s “Giving It All Away and Getting It All Back Again” uncovers the divine economy of giving. Grounded in the biblical promise from Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you,” Green illustrates the profound spiritual principles underlying a generous life.

By framing generosity within the divine economy, Green challenges readers to recognize that the act of giving transcends mere transactions. It becomes a sacred exchange where the spiritual rewards far surpass the material ones. The promise of abundance, as highlighted in this biblical verse, extends beyond the tangible, encompassing spiritual fulfillment, deepened connections, and a profound sense of purpose.

Green’s experiences and the biblical foundation illuminate the concept that the divine economy responds to acts of generosity with a spiritual multiplication, creating a cycle of blessing that goes beyond conventional understanding. As you navigate the pages of the book, you are invited to consider the spiritual dimensions of your own generosity, realizing that in giving, you become participants in a divine exchange that brings about blessings in abundance.

Close:

In a world often dominated by the pursuit of personal gain, “Giving It All Away and Getting It All Back Again” serves as a refreshing reminder of the joy and abundance that accompany a life lived generously. As we reflect on Green’s journey, guided by the timeless wisdom of the Bible, let us be inspired to embrace the transformative power of generosity in our own lives. May we find joy in giving, knowing that in doing so, we open ourselves to a life filled with blessings beyond our wildest imagination? As the pages of this book turn, so too can the chapters of our lives be rewritten, shaped by the beauty of a generously lived existence.  I would encourage you to start with the YouVersion Bible plan and then dive into the book!

The Power of Gratitude

In a world often filled with challenges and uncertainties, the practice of gratitude stands as a timeless virtue that transcends cultural and religious boundaries. Drawing inspiration from the New Testament of the Bible and the insightful words of Jon Gordon in his book “The Truth,” let’s explore the profound impact gratitude can have on our lives.

Gratitude in the Bible:

1. Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This passage from Philippians underscores the transformative power of gratitude. It encourages believers to approach God with a thankful heart, even in times of difficulty. The act of expressing gratitude in prayer is seen as a pathway to experiencing divine peace that surpasses human comprehension.

2. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

In these verses, the apostle Paul urges believers to cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude. The command to give thanks in all circumstances highlights the universal applicability of gratitude—it is not contingent on favorable situations. Still, it is a constant choice that aligns with God’s will. These verses have been a great help to me.  I need to look beyond my perspective and to God’s.

The Truth about Gratitude:

Building on these biblical principles, Jon Gordon, in his book “The Truth,” reinforces the transformative nature of gratitude. He suggests that gratitude is not just a reaction to good things but a proactive choice that shapes our mindset and influences our experiences. Gordon emphasizes that a grateful heart attracts positivity, fostering a cycle of abundance and joy.

Closing Thoughts:

In a world filled with distractions and challenges, incorporating gratitude into our daily lives can be a game-changer. The wisdom from the Bible encourages us to embrace gratitude as a constant companion on our spiritual journey. When we align our hearts with gratitude, we open ourselves to the peace that surpasses understanding and fulfills God’s will for our lives.

In conclusion, as Jon Gordon aptly puts it in “The Truth,” “Gratitude turns what we have into enough and more.” By acknowledging the blessings in our lives and expressing gratitude, we not only honor biblical teachings but also pave the way for a more fulfilling and joyful existence. May we embrace the transformative power of gratitude, recognizing it as a beacon of light in both our spiritual and everyday journeys.

Cameron and Haley Montgomery: A Beautiful Journey of Faith and Adoption

In a world filled with countless challenges and uncertainties, stories of unwavering faith, love, and compassion shine as beacons of hope. Today, we’re thrilled to share the heartwarming journey of Cameron and Haley Montgomery, a remarkable couple from our church, Fellowship of the Parks.

Cameron and Haley’s journey began when they were deeply moved by some of the adoption videos our church’s team produced for Orphan Sunday. These videos spoke to their hearts and ignited a desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in need. Newly married and eager to embrace their faith and newfound love, the Montgomerys embarked on a journey they could never have fully prepared for.

Their story is a testament to their unwavering commitment to God’s will and their dedication to living out their faith. Just a month after tying the knot, they took the courageous step into the world of foster-to-adoption. It wasn’t an easy path, with three failed placements that tugged at their hearts and tested their resolve. However, they remained steadfast in their mission to provide love and support to a child in need.

Then came the day that would change their lives forever. The Montgomerys received a call that would introduce them to their son, Carter. Two weeks after welcoming Carter into their home, they received another unexpected blessing—Haley became pregnant with their biological child, Banx. The couple’s initial plans may have been diverted, but they embraced this new chapter with open hearts and open arms.

Their journey culminated in a beautiful and touching moment that took place this past Friday—the formal adoption of Carter. This was not just the legal binding of a family, but the realization of a dream they had nurtured since that initial Orphan Sunday video.

Their story is a powerful reminder that life often unfolds in ways we could never anticipate. It teaches us the importance of embracing God’s plan even when it deviates from our own. The Montgomerys have shown us that love has no boundaries, and family is not solely defined by blood but by the bonds of love, compassion, and faith.

At Fellowship of the Parks, we are proud to be part of a church community that actively seeks to “defend those in need (orphans).” There are countless ways to be a part of this mission, from fostering and adoption to respite care, financial support, building beds, and so much more. Cameron and Haley’s story serves as an inspiring example of what’s possible when we come together as a community to make a difference. James 1:27 | Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

You can watch the Montgomerys’ incredible journey in this heartwarming video: link to the story. The video is filled with inspiring quotes and moments that truly capture the depth of their journey.

Let their story be a reminder that through faith and love, we can accomplish extraordinary things, and we can truly make a difference in the lives of those in need. The Montgomerys are living proof that by following God’s calling and remaining faithful to His plan, we can create beautiful, unexpected, and life-changing miracles.
